Repair Warranty
Clear warranty information for qualifying repairs carried out by Probert Auto.
Our Workshop Warranty
For qualifying repair work, Probert Auto offers an express workshop warranty of 3 months or 10,000 km, whichever occurs first, unless a different written warranty is stated on the quotation, job card or invoice. This express warranty does not reduce or replace any rights or warranties that apply under South African law.
Statutory Rights on Repaired Goods
Where the Consumer Protection Act applies, statutory warranties may apply to new or reconditioned parts installed during repair or maintenance work and to the labour required to install them. Nothing on this website is intended to waive or limit rights that cannot lawfully be excluded.
What the Workshop Warranty Generally Covers
The workshop warranty applies to defects in qualifying parts supplied by Probert Auto and/or workmanship directly related to the approved repair, subject to inspection and the terms applicable to the particular job.
What May Fall Outside the Workshop Warranty
- Normal wear and tear or routine service items.
- Misuse, abuse, accident damage, overheating, continued driving after a warning or fault, or use outside the vehicle's intended purpose.
- Faults in unrelated systems or components that were not part of the approved repair.
- Alterations or repairs carried out by another person after Probert Auto's work where those actions affect the claimed fault.
- Customer-supplied parts, subject always to applicable law.
Customer-Supplied Parts
Probert Auto may fit customer-supplied parts at its discretion. Probert Auto does not provide its own product warranty on a part supplied by the customer. If a customer-supplied part is defective, unsuitable or causes an associated failure, additional labour, diagnosis or repair may be chargeable, subject to applicable law. Any warranty available from the seller or manufacturer of that part remains the customer's responsibility to pursue.
Making a Warranty Claim
Please contact Probert Auto as soon as reasonably possible if you believe a previous repair has failed. We may need to inspect the vehicle before deciding whether the issue is covered. Where practical, do not authorise another workshop to dismantle or repair the claimed fault before giving Probert Auto an opportunity to inspect it.
Collection & Storage
Vehicles should be collected within 7 days after the customer is notified that the vehicle is ready for collection. After that period, a storage charge of R300 per day may apply, subject to the agreed terms and applicable law.
